A long time ago, North Korea and South Korea were the same country and the Korean peninsula was a colony of Japan.

And after the world war, The loser country of Japan lost the Korean peninsula so Japan disappeared from the Korean Peninsula.
The Korean peninsula became empty.
Then the Soviet Union came to the Korean peninsula from the North to try to get it as a colony.
Then America came to the Korean peninsula from the South to prevent the Soviet Union to getting a colony.
America didn’t hope that the Soviet Union will get a power In Asia.
So the war happened.
Finally, a truce accord was reached between America and the Soviet Union.
As a result, the Korean peninsula separated into North and South between 38 degrees North latitude.
It became North Korea and South Korea by a borderline of 38 degrees North latitude.
But it's a truce accord.It's not the end of war.North and South Korea are technically still at war.It's just a truce accord.Because they are still in the war.The war is not over, but an armistice has been signed,So nominally the country is still in a state of war even in 2023.The reason why, South Korean men have to go to the army by law.
