 What’s the definition of a good hobby?

That answer is...

"It depends on which person."

That's a given.

Everyone already knows that.

But If I have to answer that question in one sentence.

"what’s the definition of a good hobby?"

my answer is...

"It is enjoyable even without appearances, purposes, and Productivity"

That's my answer.

First, In appearances case,

For Example... My hobby is travel.

Actually, I went to Turkey last month as a travel.

This is that picture.

If that purpose is posting the picture to my Instagram to get many good buttons, it's not a hobby.

It's just a desire for acceptance.

But if I went to Turkey to get a good experience and good memory, it's a good hobby.

Second, In purpose case,

For Example... My hobby is talking with foreigners.

If that purpose is I talk with foreigners to get a good English skill to Get a TOEIC score of 900, it's not a hobby.

It's achieving the goal.

But If I enjoy to know different cultures, It's a good hobby.

Third, In the Productivity case,

For Example... My hobby is creating blog articles.

If that purpose is I create blog articles to get many followers or to earn advertising Income, It's not a hobby.

It's a labor.

But if I create blog articles that I want to write, It's a good hobby.

Anyway, The definition of a good hobby is there is just having fun or not.

My friend told me

"My hobby is making a Good-luck Bracelet, It's a little embarrassing hobby.

Because It's plain"

I told her without hesitation.

"It's a good hobby because you just make a Good-luck Bracelet for you want to.

It's not for appearances, purposes, and productivity.

You just have fun with making Good-luck Bracelet.

That's a good hobby.


The hobby that is embarrassing saying is a very good hobby.

Because that is already enjoying without appearances."

Imagine...

If a councilor said

"My hobby is collecting beautiful girl figurines!!

Most of all I love beautiful girl figurines!!

When I see beautiful girl figurines standing on shelves,

I feel happy.

Please vote for me!!”

Definitely, he will lose votes simply.

but if that hobby really makes him happy even if he loses his appearance, that means at least that hobby is a really good hobby for him.

That is "Enjoyable even without appearances, purposes, and Productivity"

That's why I travel for fun to get good experiences and good memories.

It's not for appearances.

I talk with foreigners for fun to know different cultures and sense of values.

It's not to achieve some certificate.

I create blog articles for fun to share my thoughts.

It's not to earn advertising Income.

That's my hobby.
