The capital of Luxembourg is Luxembourg!?

I talked with a person from Luxembourg yesterday.

It was the first time I spoke with a person from Luxembourg.

So, I asked her various things about Luxembourg.

The national flag is this.

The location is here.

The view looks just like Wall Maria from *Attack on Titan*.

The territory is really small.

It's almost the same size as one of the prefectures in Japan where I live.

And Luxembourg is the only country in the world where the capital and the country name are the same.

So I looked into why that happened and the history behind it.

Luxembourg is a very small country surrounded by France, Belgium, and Germany.

It's really small.

However, it used to be a much larger country.

・After 1650, Luxembourg was divided three times.

The first division occurred in 1659,

when the southern part of Luxembourg was occupied by France.

・The second division was in 1815,

when Prussia occupied a large area in the northeast, and a smaller area in the east,

while the Netherlands occupied a small area in the north.

And France occupied a small territory in the southwest.

・In the final division in 1839,

Belgium occupied two-thirds of western Luxembourg.

As a result, the country's territory was significantly reduced.

A dramatic before and after that astonishes everyone!!

Successfully achieved an amazing transformation from fat to a nice body that even top-tier diet trainers would be shocked by!!

And in the same year, 1839, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg was established as an independent state with its current territory.

At that time, it was Luxembourg City that played the role of the country's center at that time.

Due to the dramatic reduction in territory and the fact that the country is not very large, the name of the central city became the name of the country itself.

That’s the Luxembourg.
